ABSTRACT:
According to the disclosure, a tool is provided for measuring the thickness of fat in a carcass and producing a signal representative of the measured thickness, and means is coupled to said tool for receiving and storing a value representing a measured thickness.
The method includes inserting the measuring tool into the fat of a carcass to produce a signal representative of the fat thickness, continuously receiving said signal corresponding to the measured thickness, indicating on said tool when the fat thickness has been measured, and storing in response to said indication the signal corresponding to the measured thickness.
