ABSTRACT:
A process for the preparation of a fluorinated acid such as trifluoroacetic acid, including admixing an hydrofluorocarbon, such as 1,1,1-trifluoroethane, with chlorine, an oxidizing agent and an additive to prevent or minimize decomposition; and irradiating the reaction mixture with a light source having a wavelength ranging from 2000 .ANG. to 14000 .ANG..
