Fungicidal and plant growth-regulating hydroxyalkylazolyl derivatives of the formula ##STR1## in which Z represents halogen, alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, halogenoalkyl with 1 or 2 carbon atoms and 1 to 5 halogen atoms, halogenoalkoxy with 1 or 2 carbon atoms and 1 to 5 halogen atoms, halogenoalkylthio with 1 or 2 carbon atoms and 1 to 5 halogen atoms, phenyl or alkoximinomethyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkoxy group,
